Inside each of us lives a younger version—one who may have felt overlooked, silenced, or unloved. Healing your inner child isn’t about staying stuck in the past; it’s about giving yourself the compassion and care you always deserved. The beautiful truth is that God sees all of you—past and present—and deeply cares. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). That includes the quiet ache of unmet needs and unspoken pain. God doesn't rush your healing; He gently walks with you through it.

Here are three steps to begin the healing process—with God’s love leading the way:

  1. Acknowledge and Invite God In Start by recognizing the areas where you still feel small, scared, or unseen. Bring those moments into prayer. Say, “Lord, meet me where I needed You most.” Psalm 139:1 says, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” Nothing surprises Him—He’s been with you all along.

  2. Speak Truth to the Wounded Places Begin replacing old lies with God’s truth. If your inner child believed “I’m not enough,” remind her what God says: “You are fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Write affirmations based on scripture and speak them over yourself daily.

  3. Practice Gentle Reparenting with God’s Help Offer yourself the love, patience, and protection you may not have received. Let Isaiah 66:13 be your comfort: “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” This could look like setting boundaries, prioritizing rest, or engaging in joyful play—whatever helps that little version of you feel safe and seen.

Healing is a journey, not a destination—and with every step, you’re walking closer to wholeness. That little girl inside of you is not forgotten. She’s finally being held. BE ENCOURAGED!
